Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue

Shelties Available as of 12/04/08   (scroll down after reading these important facts)

  • The Shelties you see below are currently available for adoption , unless otherwise noted.     To begin the Adoption process, you will need to read this first.     Adoption Information

  • All dogs in our program are purebred Shelties, unless otherwise noted.

  • All Shelties listed are vet checked and healthy, spayed or neutered, current on shots, HW tested, wormed, flea protected and groomed before they leave here.

  • Our Senior Program is a program developed to promote the placement of senior dogs, (which are always so hard to adopt out).   Under this program,  we will help with vet bills for extraordinary or age related issues.  Ask for details. Read one adopters story

  • We do not recommend most Shelties with toddlers.  If you have small children, we would suggest a Lab or Golden Retriever.   These breeds are much better with small children.

  • For the comfort and safety of our dogs,  we require a fully fenced (front or rear) yard to adopt a dog from us.

  • Size-  All Shelties that we list are measured (in inches) from the ground to the top of the dogs back/neck....not the top of the head.   There is NO SUCH BREED as a "Miniature Sheltie".   There are very small Shelties and there are large shelties, but they are all "Shelties"

have a secure fenced yard, please let us know!!

Luke

Beautiful 7 yr old sable male.  Sweet, gentle  laid back and very affectionate.   He is a total cuddlebug and his favorite place is laying next to you with his head in your lap.  Housetrained and just a love.   Luke is now at 30 pounds heading for 23-28 pounds.

Gizmo (left)   Misty (right)

Gizmo and Misty are both very small sables.   Gizmo is 7 yrs old.  VERY friendly, and LOVES everyone.  Gizmo is playful and silly and just a nice dog.

Misty is also very small.....she is an adorable sable female with the cutest "lion" hair cut.  12 yrs old, and still very alert and active and PLAYFUL.  Misty is also VERY loving and affectionate.  Her sight and hearing are perfect as well as her health.   Misty loves to play with her lifelong buddy Gizmo.

Gizmo watches out for Misty like nothing we have seen.  It is so cute how he worries about her and keeps her in his sight.  They sleep curled up together.

Both these dogs will totally steal your heart once you meet them.

  Charlie

Charlie is a small shaded sable male who came in from Animal Control as a stray.  Sweet and loving to a fault.  We guess him at 8 ears old.  Charlie will charm you immediately with his looks, his antics and his silliness. Housetrained, affectionate, great with all other animals and kids....just a great dog.    Charlie weighs 16 pounds.  Just a little guy who LOVES his belly rubbed

     Tigger

was rescued from a breeder when she died.  Tigger is 5 yrs old and was used as a breeding dog and lived outside in a kennel.  Tigger is now very happy to be living indoors and is enjoying his housebreaking and basic obedience training.  He is very shy until he trusts you, which is typical.  Tigger is a very loving sweet dog who will make a wonderful best friend to some lucky person.   Tigger is great with all other animals and older kids.  Tigger is about 25 pounds and carries a big, full coat.  Just beautiful!!

Hannah
4 yr old little Tri colored female.  She is shy and timid until she knows you, and then is a real love. Hannah is a woman's dog, and must go to a home where a woman will be her primary caretaker, and who will be the one spending the most time with her.   Hannah is afraid of men and also afraid of big, loud dogs.   A nice quiet home where she can sit and cuddle with you would be her dream home.  Hannah is housetrained and well behaved and is a real sweetheart with a lot of love to give.  Hannah does love to run and play and be silly once she feels secure.  If you are looking for the love of your life and you fit these criteria, please consider Hannah.

Samantha

3-5 yr old Blue Merle female.  Very friendly and loves everyone.

Jack

OK, so we found this little guy on the side of the road shivering, and it's cold here in Illinois right now.
No collar and no tags or chip.  No one came looking for him after our best efforts to find his home over the last month.  So; now he up for adoption.  Jack is a Jack Russell Terrier, he is 7-9 years old best guess.  He is housetrained and clearly used to being an indoor housedog.  Jack LOVES attention an loves to be in your lap.  He loves everyone!  Jack can be silly and playful, but will curl up and sleep when you are tired of playing.  He would be perfect for an adult home as a lap warmer.  He is approx 15 pounds.
